okay so welcome everybody to this kick-off session of a Tennessee Vevo leave us a visual impairments Virtual Academy my name is you're at the Tennessee School for the Blind resource center for the visually impaired happy to welcome everyone to today's session so you don't kick off the new year and I hopefully you don't provide some over what you can expect from the coming year with Viva sessions and professional development opportunities as well as giving me an update on matters relevant to the resource center for rcbi and what you guys I want to think about in terms of ordering books for your students at APS materials things of that nature and so we're just really excited that you guys were able to carve out some time to join us here during the school day on Friday so I might turn it over just real quick to doctor sweats who has joined us here because like I said she's been my partner and putting together these sessions and Rachel were just introducing ourselves do you want to stay a couple words yeah I'm thank you all for being in our first action of the year last night coordinate the visual disabilities tvi training program here at Vanderbilt and is dinner with Alan at the resource center and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center to put these sessions on throughout the year so excited to have you all here to kick off her first one is the partnership that kind of came about right as covid was coming and we couldn't have the the traditional annual Unity conference here at the school for the Blind and you know Rachel that just arrived at Vanderbilt and I got with her to say hey we we need to do something to try to put some Professional Building together so people can still feel like they are able to succeed in providing services to your kids who have visual impairments at the time digital Solutions virtual Solutions and in that nature and we just kind of you know continued it on because this is absolutely a really powerful waiter to reach TV eyes and other professionals and so we're really pleased on how this is gone and so for those who are not familiar with Tennessee Viva we simply put on about 22 PD sessions carpet of opportunities a month the school year in included in those sessions are roughly quarterly what we call a Consortium of vision Educators Gathering which is more of a collaborative time guys to just come and bring topics of your hot topics of discussion questions that they are hoping that you know they can bring to their peers to get some thoughts and solutions for and I'm so upset tell me the word really excited about and hoping to see grow over time everything still with the way just to go challenges of putting down a time that we could get more people to but we're really excited about the possibilities bear I think before I continue let me just say that this session and many sessions are recorded and can have credits continuing education units or acvrep credits for those who need them and so I will drop the link where you can request those in the chat and the opening a code for this session is community Community like us and the television show alright so let's see where we're at maybe before we get going we have a little bit of time and we have a small enough group I wondered with the rest of you guys be willing to introduce yourselves and kind of share what your role is and where you working turn on let you go first year I needed okay I'm caring Carly from the Cumberland County school system and I'm the visions technology service coordinator transition coordinator for our County Anna but I work with it you know CDC classrooms typical children that might have Vision issues also Misty won't go ahead Misty Brown I work for Putnam County Schools all the schools system which I think there's 18 awesome and what else I figure it's easier camera off but I apologize I'm eating some lunch in the background, it's nice to see some familiar names and it's nice to see you Allen and Rachel I work with Rachel at Vanderbilt I'm a research assistant professor there and while I'm not a part of the vision program my research and work does Center mostly around students with visual impairments and if you are a Tennessee AER member which hopefully you are your connected Allen's going to help us promote a new project we just got new funding so if you support transition age students with visual impairments we have a new five-year contract that really focuses on developing materials for this population for you as a professional if you're a parent and then for your students themselves it we're just at the very front end we'll have lots more information to share but I'm glad you're here and you're hearing about it and hopefully you can help us to spread the word you putting something on the calendar of maybe adding and a something so that you know Hillary can share on how that's going to be implemented and take place and how you guys can take advantage of that really exciting stuff given How We Roll we know much of a bunch of Tennessee is okay yeah I'm at Martin County Public Schools down in the South here on the and for the district and it's growing rapidly and it's great to connect with are the TV eyes and other you know districts where you're the only one and I'm very excited to be here today now you're rocking to Karen I don't know how you're doing with all those kids were moving you're going to need a you know partner at some point I believe it alright cool I can go by I'm Emily I was kind of waiting for Hillary to go cuz I working on the new project with her so I figured she could give her synopsis and then I could just jump on at the end but yeah I'm excited to join you all and and learn more or different Virginia anyone want to this recent don't have a camera and will that we have some reminder zaro overviews do you know how to use the ordering system so just pays to stay with us until then and you know you'll go get definitely some information for you and then you know if everyone else is watching this on a recording just you just know that if there's ever anything that comes up that you have questions about you don't don't ever hesitate to reach out to myself I emailed all over the resource center website and you know what we want to you to feel is that as a vision professional you do have a community around your colleagues in this field even though it's small I do want you to feel connected and if we can be you know the Hub of that connectedness that for you to not feel isolated as the only TV I in your county or anything like that or just feel like you don't know or over you got a question about how to use a device or work with a student with a unique case that there are people out there who very likely will have ideas to help you and we want you to be able to help you you don't feel successful in those Nevers either through professional development through just sharing names and just know that we you know we we want this community and you know I'm speaking of the Consortium of vision educators want to grow that sense of a community practice during the state and who you're never never feel like it's weird to ask a random question and you know anyone who's going through this I may not but I may know people who likely do and so there are still many people here in the states who are so so talented experience way more so than anything I can claim and so I'm going to do everything I can to connect you with connect you with people who can you speak to whatever you might be going through so just know that my goal and in this role is to make sure that no one in the state feels like they are doing their work on the route personal passion of mine so thank you for listening. So far now direct you guys too and then I will jump on hi I'm Heather McDonough I am the advisor for the visually impaired program in Memphis Shelby County schools has so much experience in so we're glad to have you here Heather all right so let me do a overview for everybody who's here on what the schedule looks like or Tennessee Viva I'm going to put the Kennedy Center Reba page in chat and then I will also share my screen in a second and while I'm at it I will share the resource Center's homepage to forgive me for not yet updating all the information on okay when I share my screen all right can you guys see I've got a page open and try to full screen okay so this is can you set a web page homepage for Viva and like I said you know we used to call this community Virtual Academy with Viva has a really cool thing to it or educator stakeholder family looking for you no ideas for Best Practices support and resources for students with visual impairments we do operation Gary P credits or just learning those kinds of things we can give you a certificate for your participation that you do participate live and if I'm going to other scroll down just noticed on the right hand side or so screenshot of the PD program but if you click on this link right here we have a downloadable flyer but this website is the page that has all the zoom links for sessions that you can register for and so today here we've got our kickoff meeting okay and so coming up not too long from now in about a week or so we've got a session. Burlington scription tips and tricks and tips with us as our on transcriptionist will not be giving an overview on you know some some things to look out for when you're trying to attach contents or students who are reading Braille and also maybe some tricks to using software like ducks that you may not have encountered or realize you could do at the TV I is there going to be something useful content coming from that session song that at the end of September we have our first Gathering it again code is the Consortium of the in Educators where we just try to discuss what is going on in the field what are you seeing at the TV Eye Trends in students Trends in materials that are being used in your districts anything like that you know like I said earlier you need to case cases of students of not really being sure how to work with this is a great time to bring those kinds of toe I need a two to the conversation and I was going to say something else I will say we have a number of I'm trying to find out if we have a number of interesting groups who are going to be introducing themselves we're hoping to have mr. Richard Ray who's the new superintendent here at tsp play some self-discovery welcome from his end we've got the center for technology training cat from Alabama will be introducing themselves to discuss bear sports available to provide to Vision professionals across the southeast and their unique relationship with the American printing house for the blind or a ph and so they'll be there and the 10 best line project will be here to share about they do a number of other things and hopefully that's just how do you know what your appetite and excitement for that Gathering we do like the little beet Beyond discuss discussing what we are experiencing would you like to bring topics to assured Imaging discussion but just expose folks to resources and information that could be of relevance on the calendar in October 18th this is a tweak the day session by delaying it and DC Showcase which is practical strategies or implementing quality ECC instruction and so doctors less than a few other participants I believe that someone from rtsp Outreach team also presented in Schererville variety of useful topics about ECC and how you can organize your approach to teaching ACC or you don't give an example like the end here on how our Outreach coordinator really cool college experience for some high school students were about to graduate they did that about 80s you and everything that I hear is that it really opened their eyes to a variety of aspects to what college is like near the experience of walking on campus being told okay what you're feeling right now building to be walking around small school out there and so that made it different than what I wanted the students wanted to apply for will continue here into November we have a long procession on called tips for collaborating collaboratively implementing tangible symbol or a JC communication symbol for students with visual impairments were really excited about that because as We Know many and probably most more of the visual impairment population is doing to have multiple or complex needs and so the relevance of asean Temple symbols is just all more important for us to feel like we have some confidence there same week the next week after that Friday we will have a parent panel so spread the word advice and lessons learned from parents of children with visual impairments and so we're just hoping to connect families with other families or an opportunity for them to hear from each other on just you know what they've experienced in terms of expectation working with their school and I P's and living in the real world getting to the community and so we think this will be a really unique topic last year we had a great first panel where we talked about Optics in here we're just going to be able to put parents in front of other parents to maybe in a further down the road and their journey and supporting and loving on their kids and know where they feel like they are getting them towards their your goals and aspirations I'm going to quickly know that November is when the unity conference occurs I'll talk about that more in just a second but that'll be later in the month November 16th and 7 just block it out and plan to come are into December we've got a session titled an overview Bowen them skills and expectations the sumba vi and complex support needs a Suzanne Dinwiddie that one project and has been a longtime bishan teacher and I want a specialist such a wealth of knowledge you know is is within her and so we're going to be able to hear from her understand really useful topic it's the New Year in January we have our winter Cove meeting so it's somewhere we will gather together as you know a community of practitioners later in January I will be doing a keys to success session on all things teaching typing and why that's so important in this day and age you know do not know my background as a patient teacher was being a AP specialist within the field and so I feel really strongly about this anytime the student has gotten past Middle School and folks are asking my tasks you know what is an important skill to work on them on with them as they're getting ready to transition to their next stubs when I first thing to check on his power to text Kelsey on can they my most basic things I asked is well if I send an email prompt on just you know the general writing prompts could they send me something back within 2 minutes right and if the answer is no Minecraft Roblox YouTube Roblox I doubt you know they they type 10 words a minute right and they hunt and Peck that's that's not going to cut it if they really want to achieve a certain kind of vocational or lifestyle outcome that's what I'll be doing later in January we have some open slots currently in our February a slate and so perhaps this is where we'll we'll have Hillary back here Hillary and Emily to talk about how things are going with can you grant I have some other things up my sleeve that I'm going to be exploring so just stay tuned this page as soon as we have some of these sessions in doubt and hopefully we don't have any sessions plans for April March or April currently just because that is where we hit Spring Break season we hit testing testing window and schools and so schedule and get very dicey there and again if it ends up being. I do schedule something for those dates and then we'll finish up your end of your Coke Gatherings going to see how things have gone and if there any topics that we need to hit on the Target and recruit people to speak for we want these sessions to be by people are communities for people in our community so she's always been a volunteer those ideas and topics that you feel like you could need you can use the portal I am seeing a note to hear that must be put in that there's a blind Independence Center opening in Cookeville next month they would probably come and speak that's a good idea I'll explore that envelope with you that's a new Beast that write Misty call Prestige blind I mean they are members of a n f e I don't know if it's going to be maybe we'll talk about me maybe you got Rachel I could get in contact with them and I hear where they're at yeah opening next month that's really cool they are going to have a Non-Stop Place its where they're going to fit in to Services you know and all that so we can connect people with a good resource that's what we're going to do okay just looking at that overview any questions does anybody have any comments or topics off hand that you feel like you've been thinking about but do not see on on schedule and take suggestions then see here alright then let me take a second and and just really specifically speak on Unity because that in your in my role is when I put a lot of time into sing in your yeah I feel so passionately about putting on a good event because there's not many of these for us that we where we can gather in person and have you do meaningful opportunities to collaborate and hear from each other and just grow ourselves professional and so the unity conference is scheduled for November 16th and 17th at the Thursday in Friday right before Thanksgiving so block it out it's always been that time of the year that timing right before Thanksgiving Thursday will be a half-day starting about starting at right around noon with a been a full day on Friday so after we were jam-packed with you no opportunities for folks to attend sessions with topics all across the board and soyou separate from here Viva PD and if you guys feel like you've got some wisdom that you need to give your built up over the years I know. I know it's in there consider presenting or consider partnering with 32% on the topic because you seen a lot and we meet in transition and we just don't want to see you no good skills and knowledge move on in transition away and you know a Barfield in the State lose a little bit of an equivocal institutional knowledge and so you know look forward to it think about if you've got something that you know you can share and you know we'd love to it is ideas and we'll start getting the word out about speakers and presenters and schedules and all that kind of stuff but November 16th and 17 come on down we want to have you and should be a really really good time yeah yeah alright I think I've gone through most of the time to cover Rachel was there anything else that I I don't think so I think you covered it yeah and then in that case let's keep going and I'm going to pardon me I need to pull up an email and I'm going to Ariel use that as my guide so I don't forget what to mention but we're going to Pivot now to the resource center and for UTIs this is potatoes I'm going to bring much say a lot of what was in my welcome back newsletter that I sent on a Wednesday last week and give you an update on what I'm seeing here with orders and all that kind of stuff and so first of all just you know if you have not yet or still have to do anything you haven't done it for please place your accessible book orders soon as you can large print in Braille as a reminder if a student has 9p very clear-cut for us that you're eligible and we will get what your student needs but we can't really know whether or not we have to follow up with you about potentially needing a hard copy of the book to produce umbrella large print just because we need we ran on we we handle this in an on-demand fashion and so get those books in so we can do some research and see if it's in our catalog I think so nature places orders and also if you have books that were ordered for your students last year or years in your past if you find those and are not needed in your District anymore please look for them or please locksmith in shipping back to us there's a shipping label on our website for Center where you can put that free matter label on your box and it will come right to us and we'll check it and then we can reuse that so that applies to 8 materials that are no longer used or large print braille books checked out from previous years also if there are new individuals in your districts who need access to the resource center ordering page and I'm going to share that link for login page okay so if you do now have a unique login for signing in please touch base with me and we will work with you on getting a new form completed to update speaking of new form let me put those in the chat for those who need it are two forms going in now one is our designee form which would be for staff for removing staff things of that nature this year in the in this updated designee for my bad to check boxes so that you don't you can simply fill it out for just a person and not worry about filling out the rest of verses in the past it more felt like there had to be a complete comprehensive form completed every single time and so you can change that way in an application for Service formed if it's doing is not in our system we do need to have this completed so we can fully account for every student that we add and won't you can document their visual impairments their IP information Planet formation if they're not and I P student we have a number of services that we can provide to support two to have a 504 plan for our home schooling and things of that nature so do you know kids in those cases you're welcome to reach out and I can figure out and troubleshoot with them on what they are elves with 40 back to books and aph materials if you have any trailers that have been provided to you through the resource center that are sticky you not working or anything like that we have a we've got a white school year we established a really good repair solution partnering with the the Tennessee a couple media project prison program the pure Nashville and they in addition to transcribing Braille and producing large print center they also are able to repair railriders so do you have any brothers that have been provided by rcbi touch base with me send back the the broiler that's not working or is not working that well and just simply place a request for new brahlers in our system and we'll get you a working one and we'll sort out the repairs on our end so just know that we can handle that pretty quickly because we can get those turn around any questions on orders and textbooks at this time before I keep plunging forward questions going to see Tina joining good to see Jessica joining to this you guys on this Friday do you want you guys want to share real quick you guys are working and all that just the one that's okay and I need to share my ordering guy because I know our ordering system which is produced by a company called Keystone systems called cloth really mean a lot to you guys so I like to refer to her are online portal at the rcbi or drink or do or ROP for those of you who are TDI little little cute and silly I'm trying to make that a thing so use the ROP to get your orders in but otherwise here's a guide that hopefully should walk you through the basics of how to use our system you look for books look for materials place an order I will do a walk-through of this in court the end of this the session East Tennessee Hawkins County. Jessica has chimed in I'm just retire currently working in four counties The Cab Canon Overton and White County everyone if there's anything we can do to you guys are you guys are feeling like they're topics of support here to connect you with other people or you know put those sessions on ourselves and earlier I'm Karen had time to the same Yuri valuation of children with zvi is a topic that she'd like to see and I totally agree I think we had something like that last year so maybe look and see if that recording still there but we'd that that actually an ongoing topic do you want to be addressing okay so while we're sort of talking about Research Center related things for those of you who are the TV items just bring me a lot and you're used to this but we we are responsible for conducting the annual census for the federal court a program you're tallying up all eligible students here in the states whether your speed whether you're a public school or if you're in what we call our private non-public account for folks in Private School homeschooling things of that nature and just a couple updates on that I don't know if I've shared this with very many people but as of last year there's an advisory committee of aph Trustees approved I'm a trustee so I kind of got this official word that there's been a recommendation made to ath to then present to the federal government who oversees the federal code of program 2 to make a change to the eligibility guidelines or in federal court program right now the eligibility essentially circles around suits being legally blind or having conditions like cortical visual impairment through their categories of definition of blindness or functions of definition of blacks however as we know numbers are in a Fickle and you know hard to get for certain students and the definition is likely to likely to change because of this this this recommendation, but the the approval or adoption of new guidelines has not been released and I don't know the timeline for that so be on the lookout for potentially some news on this as we get closer to January which is when the census takes place because it is likely or possible that many students who currently count as low vision are not legally blind could become eligible the program I'm going to stick with possible and stay tuned because if that changes we may need to you know just make sure we get a lot more information straightened up so that those kids can be counted any questions about that no, I will say I have requested that TV I continue to push in place orders of a pH products you're in our spend-down phase or the 2022 census census. The run from October to the end of September each year so we in the tune to sensors that ran from January to March those funds were available to spend October 2022 through September of this year and so we're coming on that spend-down deadline the public account for just about all of you guys who are public TV eyes I placed a large order recently to stock up on your equipment and stuff so currently where we're at as we have $9,350.88 in that account to spend it so just be thinking of your students who are eligible for the program and whether or not there are any interesting products that you'd like to order for them I'm going to give a quick overview of some new devices that are out there there is a really cool device called the poly for learning Braille and ask them if you guys have placed an order for that just know that we have some updates we have to apply to them before we can send them out what we're going to do as soon as we can hopefully you're by the middle of next week and then we'll get him out to you but it's a really cool device with speech Wi-Fi capabilities or teacher engagement on their devices and tracking student progress jumbo. Regular size Braille learn how to use a flame stylist so cool abrilar school I also want to point out that the Matt connect video magnifier that has a tablet was updated to the back connect to point one has a much more current tablets operating system versus older versions so we fully discontinued the old Mac connect you can keep using it if you've got an old one but if you feel like it's starting to get slow on you you consider placing an order for the New York Mets in the newsletter I sent out there's a number of other products like snap circuit a new flip over concept books on telling time the swirly mats packs can be used with a light boxes have been updated to a CBI swirling Mass product and of SBA early Mass products or look for those person you something reading guide book which replaces the old content that was in the SL cake it's so early learning kit product and so that should be a really useful tool in helping us think through how to support kids with a sneeze CDI things of that nature that's okay that's a book that you're interested get an order in we've got some in house and we'll we'll get them on right down to you the old and vision kit or Optical magnifier or used to be cute scored near devices distance devices now there's a single Envision kit that can be ordered either with the optical devices or without which we just became books example activities that you can do with monocular telescope that are handheld magnifiers things like that so with or without those optical devices and I do want to also point out there's some real cool Blackhawk print rail tackle books that a pH has been developing over the last couple years old during covid some of them were not available using beauty supply chain issues but I'm going to share my screen just so I can share a few of these really cool and shoots go back to my browser here's the book called how to recognize a monster where you can learn to recognize a monster by discovering it's funny and bizarre body are you brave enough to make it how to spawn an engaging tackle storage in so like I said everything is really high contrast visual tactical lots of you know hand put together and compiled two elements in. Peters text and underneath that you can't quite see if there's emboss Braille first things to read along fuel long as they read I mean look at that was just so so cool something that went out of stock for a while and is now available is another book called the caterpillar similarly very cool lots and lots of things to feel and help you to do Concepts just really really need all on one side works and there's a new one I'll show you two more this one is called Let It eat can I hear the concept of five on the plate or five desserts what is this suddenly greedy Little Wolves very hungry he takes 5 gigantic coke coke coke coke coke and you can see the plate with too much baby wizard the newest one that they put out is called a tale for baby lizard where I believe the lizard kind of forgets its tail and is trying to figure out its tail and you have all these different animals with different tail pieces that you can steal and try to get it done so is that the baby lizards tail very very tactical and fun just know that those those products are out there they're really really really really cool so get those orders in and even in are really don't sweat the amount of money that I threw out there that's left we will have no issues getting that Spence and you can essentially order continuously I think there's some type of program is set up so just know that continued to know that PPH is a source of a tremendous amount of really fantastic products and speaking of which let me link bear a catalog that you can browse and has been updated for this year I'm dropping the link to the digital Catalog online the catalog is the best way to browse for a pH products website is not quite that great but the catalog is awesome and so you know so use that questions about a ph and products that you're curious about what we were talking about this typhoon questions or feel free. if anything does come out let me pivot now actually back to my browser I am kind of excited I do want to show off this building. find me which is a new Resource Center like I said we moved this summer after being told at the beginning of last school year to be ready to move at the holidays getting pushed back further into the summer and we went right before July 4th and so this behind me my background is the new building 16 resource center for the visually impaired it was an old procurement Warehouse tech building and was completely gutted remodeled for our purposes in terms of housing braille books a housing large print books housing equipment and materials from a pH of that stuff having dedicated reproduction room that is sound insulated so the imposters don't going to drive us all crazy is really really excited so I'm going to Cher my screen time all right but here's a picture that is my background here's a picture of our action that has high-density shelves and if you've ever seen a show like CS where they've got she'll be like this where you got these you know crank you can turn you cranks to move a shelf left and right and within you know we house our braille books and we can do so much in this space so that you know beginning here we've got a Geometry book that we're going to send out for transcription and the vendor estimated that it would be a 70 volume long you know yo conquerors but that's the Braille side here's a picture of the large print side where we've got a lot of varieties scan the shelves ready to go out lender requested it's a lot better than using old dorm rooms that have to be in a retrofitted for our purposes here you see a lot of those books I was talking about baby lizard caterpillar there's another one called 6 little dots and the older on the way to literacy books that are that were the original kind of Prince Braille tackle looks still have lots of those going on we go back I think let me talk a little bit about this room this be there earlier pictures of what I'm calling our training room at the resource center we're really excited to have a purpose built space that can host people or in-person training or support and so you know please stay tuned for some news on just how that will work playing playing out moving forward we're just really excited for the opportunity to grow in our provision of resources and support so that's what I'm envisioning is will have the Limited number of on-demand learning sessions that we could do I impress other staff here would be able to provide to ppis or up Bishop Educators on demand so some sessions that I had already brainstormed work kind of a Windows accessibility 101 for visual impairments kind of walking through what the ease of access ever looks like no did you know there's a way to enlarge your mouth size I think we all know somebody if not ourselves who needs to do that because you can never find where the cursor is on screen because it's small and white right and I do I have noticed mine is not margarine pink because it's good for me I am very comfortable with providing basic guidance on what that looks like so that you also know how to access that and then can take it in a back to your students and get them to militarize so that any make it to they'd be able to customize a computer or themselves and so that's the goal for Lavista was a Bookshare 101 session cuz if you're not familiar with those shirts you know digital books access for students with Princess abilities which absolutely includes our kitten visual impairments and so they threw either on my browser or a nap really long story short can have many many books including textbooks made available to them in a prince and auditory format and so it's really really everyone should really be using it I'm sober if you're not familiar with that and would like to get to know some understanding of how it works you know I'm envisioning that being a topic that we can pretty easily you know bring you in on a free Friday or whatever your is convenient for you I mean we could probably make that happen you're really just Hands-On opportunities with Braille device has a refresher on the braille code code is almost you're supporting a student who's moving to your District you know that. And we just were really excited to be able to invite people in to survive this level of support either scheduled or on-demand so look out for that we're pumped should be should be a lot of lot of fun okay so I've been rambling any questions at this point because I am nearing the end of what I was planning to share and discuss with everybody on this Friday anything for the good of the order because overview of what the federal code of program is ordering is what you would click to go straight to our ordering page the portal itself we have an ATM living Library we have video bars in available for students who do not qualify for federal quota so if you qualify for federal quota we would probably lend you and you were thinking about video magnifier you can order a piece devices like Jupiter where will the new magnifier or a juvenile video magnifier as well as other devices but you know there's kids who have low vision but may still be significantly impacted in that visual experience and need video magnifier as opposed to lower Tech optical devices and so there is no gap of support maybe a kid is showing as 2150 what level of a pyramid technically legally blind and so we've got an ability for TGI's to request devices for those kids if they do feel like that which is something that could be supporting your could could help those kids out with her visual access that is something that could be of help to you resources let me just click on some of these so I'll just show you what the lending library page looks like I kind of explain but I just told you guys we have four devices are readily available to be shared out through the lending library I discussed kind of how how to be eligible for that and other policies and Oates the request form is below I'm heading over to that I put together for folks to follow to be considered next to you as you're working through our web page if you ever have any suggestions I would love to hear them because like I said this is not like shopping Amazon it works for what it needs to do but you know sometimes it's not a Slicker straightforward as I'd like it to be so I tried to put a nice one two three four together for folks on placing an order but I'll try to give you a walkthrough what that looks like right now so like I said earlier anyone who wants to use the r o p e r c a v i order portal should have a unique login ID type that is tied to their email so you're using an account and then you place an order but don't get emails it maybe someone else's account and I'll show you what that's all about and if you forget your password you can obviously go ahead and do that so I've got a personal user IDs on the sign with that are welcome page very wordy and maybe now that I've got a guy I cut down on what's on this page but the best way to start an order is to do you know what I'm going to sign out a different account how you're going to start an order is you're going to go straight to find students and districts if you know the name of your student you can enter their first or last name or enter a blank search Uncle Ben list out all the students in your District if you don't see a student on this list that would indicate that it's a good idea for you to contact us and submit an application for star or so that they can be at I'm going to type my name and there I am so when you find the student that you need to click on their name and you're going to see with called their main Details page and once you're ready you're going to come right on up to the add material request button and you have a plain and simple catalog search and while we're here before we get there. I do want to point out a couple things on the right hand side of the search page you have what does material request lime bullet no lines yet link to view all items in complete order as well as can't find the title your look add a temp title okay to put these in layman's terms request is your shopping cart okay and all the lines that will being in bullets underneath material request are the individual items in in your car okay so one thing I do want to stress his  at all possible or every you're ordering things for please put as many items as possible in the same cart or material request before clicking on this link to complete the order do not add one item and check out because that's not how you would do it on Amazon is it a no you guys will probably load up your car getting nice and big and place the order of all of your items similarly please don't order one book with one order the next book with the another order and so on so forth because if you can add them all to the same request I'm going to show you guys what that looks like as you look for books or potentially product if there's a book that you do a search for and does not appear you can use the temp title option and you'll see that for books you'll leave it on is it the product like a pH that's not in their system you would use equipment and it would come up and let you cut that information okay but for the most part you're going to be browsing for books and especially with this math adoption this will like come up a lot at first selected medium you need this book in Braille or large prints could be very careful with this author the field does need to be filled in if you don't know it just put a. Or something but they want the system gets mad if it's life like most importantly what we need accurate information for is the book's title the ISBN number pacifically from the back of the book so you are on the take off if you're ordering this Envision come on this Envision Geometry book you need to go to the back of the book and get the ISBN number off of where the barcode is please check with your bookkeepers or yourselves to make sure that it is the actual at the end because you'd be surprised at how many different ice beans are out there you know there is Sims 4 bundles within each book with in the Bible acetone I be a number and that's what we need a description would be helpful if you want to give more context about you know the book's title or anything sounds like that can ultimately I I think that should be all you need to answer then you would could save and it would go to your lies now back to search I'm going to add a couple maybe give you guys a chance to think about is there something that you want me to search up so Renee Peach product called reach and match learning kit you can Browse by title or aph catalog number that probably the most precise way to find the product okay but ultimately you should be able to fairly easily find products you're looking for and when you find it click the box next to the title head on up to add liquid lines to material request Facebook page Reef refreshes so if you blink you may miss that this happened but what should the top right corner and see that reaching match learning kit is now the one vaulted item in your material request for your car again do not go check out add more books or product if that's what you need and he can come here and do okay so let's just say we're not other student I needed a real writer trailer got lots of options Perkins brailler gray and you'll notice the status field should work pretty accurately for most products so we have gray brahlers in stock ready to go Raph lights on trailer Wichita who is the only one you can buy for me pH now all copies checked out but available for order so we just don't have any in the house but we'll do our best to order it the only caveat with trailers is that if we have other trailers available will probably them in or the white touch instead just because they're available if you absolutely need a light touch brailler let me know and we can probably make that happen for today add a Perkins brailler gray line symmetry request page refreshing and what do you know I have two items bolted under material request who's got a book or something that you'd like to order anyone want to volunteer something for me to look up look to my right and see 55 million different books Misty got a book third one of those new like the caterpillar book so The Very Hungry Caterpillar what we're looking for on the way to literacy the caterpillar attitude a request it refreshes and now I have 3 items in in in my car let's just say I've got a book right and so I'm pretty sure I remember all day like I said I've learned Geometry book I'm going to type in the ISBN number so is all begins with 9 7/8 just about always. +978-141-839-4301 should be 13 digits okay. It's Envision geometry okay so we have listings for both in notice at the bottom format to Braille in large print large print is in production right now geometry notes about who is produced it for us we are in address for this one this is the one that literally will be 70 volumes were about to get that inscription Beach pick up and let's just say that you know you need the large print book going to check the box is sure that is it is for large prints and you're added to your request Grant dirt is all four items now are there any other products that you guys can think of that you remember or would like to search for otherwise we'll do one more and then we'll work on finishing up let's see another one of those books how I think if you search Monster Whole Lotta books that's not going to work well I'm just going to use another example of mastering biology and just know we have lots and lots of books in here so it does keyword searches as helpful as apologize I don't have it anymore I am ready right now and some books will appear that have very old publishing copyright dates over time you'll see these disappear we'd like very likely remove them from our inventory because they're probably shouldn't be using for example of popular on specific so I'm going to specifically take its number and just rest one more time with everybody to note that when you order it you may see the book appear two times and just be sure and you are requesting the correct format large prints or Braille I said we need to bring this one answer the request and now we have a fairly large I'm carts or material to hear we're ready to go you're going to come on down and now do you all items and complete the order page is refreshed we are looking at our cart we got all five items and let's just say potentially some items it's completely reasonable for you to request multiple quantities of them in this is the play where you would go if you needed is not a good example but let's just say you would like to brahlers and I are going to change that number 22 and at the bottom here I'm going to select update what is you forgot a product that you or or book that you needed to order okay you don't have to unforward to finish this and then come and do a new order you go right back to the button that says search catalog and you're back to where you're familiar with how to place a search okay and just pulling out all your cart items are still ready to go so we have our cart all the quantities lineup you do not need to fill out any of these fields you're ready to go to the next step now if you're using your account you're correct account that begins with a T or an S it should all this information about your school district your information and the student you're ordering for it should populate including the delivery address for your district and we cannot delivered to specific school because of our policy to ensure that there is one single Dependable place we can get books to oatmeal is everything checks you should just scroll down to the bottom if you have any comments you can put them in the shipping instructions otherwise and click on the blue complete request and it comes to us immediately and we'll get to work on getting everything ordered for there are books that we have to follow up on or product that turns out has been discontinued and we will follow up and just let you know that unfortunately we can or cannot get it or we may need a hard copy sent to us so that it can be used reproduce them large prints or Braille okay so that is the order portal hopefully that is enough of an overview ordering is simple just like that the more nuanced goes into what to do when a federal court of comes around but we will I'll do my best to record a video specifically about how to update student information all right so I think I've worn out a lot of folks or wasn't relevant to everybody but for those of you who have been able to stay to the end I appreciate your sticking with us and hopefully for those watching later on can you smoke formation for you if you need some credit to request a certificate the closing code for today's session is Gros g r o w drop the link to request those that certificate are in the chat and I'm going to stop a recording otherwise thank everyone for attending this kick-off and we look forward to seeing you guys in future sessions and just stay in touch
